Writer, Marketer, Innovator
My name is Jennifer Errico, and currently the Communications and Marketing Coordinator at the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. I graduated as a Longhorn from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2023 with a Bachelors of Journalism, a Bachelors of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and a minor in Business.

Coming to UT, I didn’t even know what journalism was. I just knew I loved to write, and my father, who's an English teacher, told me to find a career that serves others. My first exposure to journalism was at The Daily Texan, UT’s award-winning student newspaper. Growing up overseas in Korea, Qatar, and China, I used my reporting platform to focus on the international population on campus, localizing global issues to the Austin community. I also highlighted some of the overlooked tribulations international students faced living in a foreign country. In subsequent semesters, I served as the Life and Arts department head, focusing on long-form features to emphasize the humans behind each story. I concluded my journey at the paper in December 2021 as associate managing editor—a truly rewarding position with memories and experiences I’ll carry throughout my life.

I found my calling at my internship at Make A Wish Central & South Texas. Working at a nonprofit gave me purpose. I felt incredibly blessed working with the amazing wish kids, wish families, and staff to grant life-changing wishes. I grew exponentially in managing social platforms, formatting and writing newsletters, email marketing, developing marketing campaigns, graphic design, and promoting and photographing donor events. I owe all my growth to my amazing boss Mary Holguin, who truly taught me so much.
After serving three years in the non-profit space, I am ready to start a career that is patient-focused and dedicated to improving quality of life. My time volunteering at Austin Speech Labs to help stroke patients regain their speech, kickstarted my dream to work with adult patients suffering from neurogenic disorders and become a Speech Language Pathologist. I hope to utilize all the skills I've learned serving different populations and communicating their stories in my new career.
I feel incredibly blessed to learn and push myself with each opportunity and am excited for what awaits. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends, college professors, bosses, and all who have supported me thus far. Y'all inspire me to push myself every day.
